Mixing so far....

So far we have covered a few main topics:

Gain staging

Arguably the most important principal of making sure your mix is LOUD. COS WE WANT IT TO BE LOUD.

Even before gain staging, we must make sure our samples/audio/instruments are appropriate....What does that mean??? Good quality, minimally processed (in terms of dynamics) and NOT TOO LOUDDDD.

EQ

Why is EQ important? Well it's the difference between a clean and defined mix and a messy one with overlapping frequencies. Without our instruments equalised we run the risk of clashes and spikes in our output.

Harmonic distortion

Harmonics is a vital principal to understand. Our grasp of timbre and the relevance of the harmonic content of our sounds to our mixdown is the differnce between a good and a great mix.
